Braised Pork Chops & Cabbage
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 green cabbage, cut in half and sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tsp jar garlic
- 4 thick pork chops
- 3/4 c chicken broth
- salt and pepper
- 3 Tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried sage
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- oil for frying
PREPARATION
- Preheat oven to 400.
- Heat a little oil in mondo skillet and brown pork chops on both sides. Set aside.
- If necessary, add oil and cook onion for 3 minutes, add garlic and cook 10 seconds. Set aside.
- If necessary, add oil and cook the cabbage for 2 minutes.
- In one of the glass casseroles, layer 1/3 of the cabbage, 1/2 the onion and two pork chops. Repeat then top with cabbage.
- Combine broth and tomato paste and pour over.
- Bake, covered for one hour.
