Bratwurst and Broccoli Slaw
INGREDIENTS
- 3 large onions, sliced 1/2" thick
- 1/2 c cider or apple juice
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/4 tsp dried thyme, crushed
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 8 pre-cooked bratwurst, pricked
- 1/4 c buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/4 tsp caraway seeds, crushed
- 2 cups broccoli slaw
- 8 whole-grain hotdog buns.
PREPARATION
- In small crock, ombine onions, cider, garlic, thyme, and pepper.
- Place bratwurst on onion mixture.
- Cover and cook on LOW 5 hours.
- Combine buttermilk, mayonnaise and caraway seeds in medium bowl.
- Stir in slaw mix; chill.
- When bratwurst is finished, remove sausages and onions with slotted spoon; discard liquid.
- Serve on buns with the onions and slaw.
