Bratwurst and Broccoli Slaw
INGREDIENTS
3 large onions, sliced 1/2" thick
1/2 c cider or apple juice
2 cloves garlic
1/4 tsp dried thyme, crushed
1/4 tsp pepper
8 pre-cooked bratwurst, pricked
1/4 c buttermilk
1 Tbsp mayonnaise
1/4 tsp caraway seeds, crushed
2 cups broccoli slaw
8 whole-grain hotdog buns.
PREPARATION
In small crock, ombine onions, cider, garlic, thyme, and pepper.
Place bratwurst on onion mixture.
Cover and cook on LOW 5 hours.
Combine buttermilk, mayonnaise and caraway seeds in medium bowl.
Stir in slaw mix; chill.
When bratwurst is finished, remove sausages and onions with slotted spoon; discard liquid.
Serve on buns with the onions and slaw.
