Malted Guinness Beer Bread
INGREDIENTS
- 3 c flour
- 1/2 c malted wheat flakes
- 2/3 c packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 bottle Guinness stout, room temperature
- 1 Tbsp barley malt syrup
- 2 Tbsp melted butter
- 1 Tbsp malted wheat flakes
PREPARATION
- Heat oven to 375
- Grease 8" x 4" loaf pan
- Place first six ingredients in a large bowl.
- Whisk to combine
- Slowly pour in Guinness and add the barley malt syrup.
- Use a wooden spoon to stir until no dry patches remain.
- Scoop batter into prepared pan
- Pour melted butter over top then scatter malted wheat flakes over.
- Bake 50-55 minutes or until the cruse is browned and a skewer inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool 15 minutes on wire rack; turn out of pan and finish cooling.
