Monte Cristo Strata
INGREDIENTS
- 1 loaf (20-oz) country bread, crusts removed and sliced thin
- 1/4 c brown mustard
- 14 oz sliced black forest ham
- 3.5 c shredded Swiss cheese
- 4 eggs
- 3 c milk
- 1 tsp pepper
PREPARATION
- Heat oven to 400
- Generously grease 13" x 9" pan with cooking spray.
- Place layer of bread slices in bottom of pan; brush with 2 Tbsp mustard.
- Top with 1/2 of the ham and 1 c cheese.
- Repeat layers.
- In large bowl, beat eggs with whisk, add milk and pepper.
- Carefully and evenly pour over layers in baking dish.
- Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Cover with greased foil
- Let stand 30 minutes.
- Bake about 35 minutes or until bubbly.
- Remove foil and bake 10 minutes longer until cheese is lightly golden.
- Let stand 10 minutes before serving
- Serve with raspberry jam.
