Overnight Spiced Porridge
INGREDIENTS
- 2 c steel cut oats
- 8 c water
- 1/2 c dried cranberries
- 1/2 chopped apricots
- 1/2 c chopped dates
- 1/2 c raisins
- 1.5 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 18 tsp nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp cloves
- 1/4 c brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp salt
- zest of one orange
Toppings
PREPARATION
- Line slow cooker with liner
- Combine everything except the orange zest in 3-quart slow cooker
- Cook on LOW 8-10 hours.
- If you're awake halfway through, stir, but not necessary.
- In the morning, stir in the thin film that forms and scrape the sides and bottom.
- Stir in orange zest.
- Serve with toppings.
