Smothered Chicken with Bacon and Onion
INGREDIENTS
- 8 slices bacon, cut into 1" pieces
- 2 onoins, cut lengthwise, then sliced crosswise
- 1/3 c flour
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1.25 c chicken broth
- 8 boneless chicken thighs
- 1 bag egg noodles
- 1 8oz tub cream cheese spread
- 2 Tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
PREPARATION
- Cook and stir bacon in large skillet on medium until crisp.
- Remove wtih slotted spoon to paper towels
- Drain all but 2 Tbsp drippings.
- Add onions; cook 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Add flour, pepper, and half the bacon, cook 1 minute.
- Whisk in broth until blended (will be thick)
- Put chicken in slow cooker, cover with onion mixture.
- Cook on LOW 4 hours.
- About 15 minutes before serving, cook noodles.
- Drain noodles.
- Remove chicken from slow cooker, reserving onion mixture in slow cooker.
- Mix cream cheese, milk and garlic powder till well blended.
- Add to onion mixture, mix well.
- Top noodles with chicken then with sauce. Top with bacon.
