Canadian Bacon Split Pea Soup

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb split peas
  • 1 4-oz pkg Canadian bacon, diced
  • 2 good pork chops, trimmed of fat
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 carrots, sliced
  • 4 tsp jar garlic
  • 4 celery ribs, sliced, including leaves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp dried marjoram
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 6 c chicken broth

PREPARATION

  1. Rinse and sort peas.
  2. Combine everything in crock.
  3. Cover and cook 8-9 hours on low.
  4. Remove pork chops and shred, return to soup
  5. Cook on low 30 minutes.
  6. Discard bay leaf and serve.
