You never gave me anything that didn't come with strings.<br />You called me your Pinocchio because my nose is long.<br />For this I don't indict you--there were many other things.<br />You kept me weak and in your thrall though I tried to be strong.<br /><br />One day you looked away too long; my strings became detached.<br />You tried to show me off but I no longer was your pet.<br />And when you blinked, I ran away; you left the door unlatched.<br />I'll never be returning there; I haven't looked back yet.
