Maple-Glazed Cinnamon Buns
INGREDIENTS
Buns
- 1 loaf bread dough
- flour to roll the dough
- 1/4 c dark brown sugar
- 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- pinch salt
- 1/2 stick butter, room temperature
- 1 Tbsp butter, melted
Glaze
- 2 Tbsp cream cheese at room temperature
- 1/4 c powdered sugar
- 3 Tbsp maple syrup
PREPARATION
Buns
- Dust a work surface with flour.
- Place the dough on the floured surface, cover with plastic wrap and set aside 20 minutes.
- Stir the brown sugar, cinnamon and salt together in a small bowl and set aside.
- Heat oven to 400. Grease a round 8" or 9" pan with 1 Tbsp of the room temperature butter and set aside.
- Turn the dough over on the work surface and dust the other side with flour.
- Use a rolling pin to roll to 11" to 12" by 7" to 8" rectangle about 1/8" thick.
- Mash the remaining 3 Tbsp butter in a small bowl and use your fingers to spread it over the rectangle of bread dough.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the dough, using your hand to evenly cover it.
- Starting at the bottom, roll it into an 11" to 12" cylinder.
- Pinch the seam to seal and then cut the log crosswise into 6 equal pieces.
- Put, cut side down, into the baking dish.
- Brush with melted butter and bake until golden brown, 22-24 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and set aside to cool 5 minutes before glazing.
Glaze
- Whisk the cream cheese and confectioners sugar together in a small bowl.
- Add the maple syrup and stir to combine.
- Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the mixture over each cinnamon bun.
