Apple Crisp

INGREDIENTS

  • 2.5 lbs Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced about 1/4" thick
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c rolled oats
  • 1/3 c AP flour
  • 1/2 stick cold butter, cut into small pieces, plus more to grease the pan

PREPARATION

  1. Heat oven to 375.
  2. Grease 8" square pan with butter.
  3. Combine apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and 1/8 teaspoon of the salt in a large bowl and toss to coat.
  4. Place in the prepared baking pan. Set aside.
  5. In the same bowl, combine brown sugar, oats, flour, and remaining 1/8 teaspoon salt until evenly mixed.
  6. With your fingers, blend in the butter until small clumps form, about 2 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle the topping on the apples.
  8. Bake 50-60 minutes, until the topping is crispy and the apples are tender.
  9. Let cool on a rack 30 minutes before serving.
