Hot Spiced Drunken Cider

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 gallon good unfiltered cider
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 vanilla bean split lengthwise
  • 3-4 Tbsp honey
  • 20 oz (2.5 c) gewurztraminer wine
  • 1 c fresh cranberries

PREPARATION

  1. Put the cider, the spices, and 3 Tbsp of the honey in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10 minutes for flavors to blend.
  3. Add wine, do not boil again.
  4. Add the cranberries; simmer until the color the liquid. Add more honey if needed.
