Monte Cristo Strata

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 loaf (20-oz) country bread, crusts removed and sliced thin
  • 1/4 c brown mustard
  • 14 oz sliced black forest ham
  • 3.5 c shredded Swiss cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 c milk
  • 1 tsp pepper

PREPARATION

  1. Heat oven to 400
  2. Generously grease 13" x 9" pan with cooking spray.
  3. Place layer of bread slices in bottom of pan; brush with 2 Tbsp mustard.
  4. Top with 1/2 of the ham and 1 c cheese.
  5. Repeat layers.
  6. In large bowl, beat eggs with whisk, add milk and pepper.
  7. Carefully and evenly pour over layers in baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  9. Cover with greased foil
  10. Let stand 30 minutes.
  11. Bake about 35 minutes or until bubbly.
  12. Remove foil and bake 10 minutes longer until cheese is lightly golden.
  13. Let stand 10 minutes before serving
  14. Serve with raspberry jam.
