Top Me Twice Cake

Cake:

2 c. flour
1 c sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 13.5oz. can crushed pineapple, undrained (not the little can, but the larger size)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

Topping:

1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c chopped nuts

Sauce:

1/2 c butter
1/2 c cream or half-n-half
1/2 c sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla

Grease bottom only of a 9" square pan. Combine all cake ingredients at low speed until blended. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Pour into pan.

Sprinkle with topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.

Just before cake is done, prepare sauce: melt butter, add cream, sugar and vanilla; mix thoroughly.

When cake is done, pour hot sauce over warm cake. (I poke holes in the cake with a fork, to let the sauce get down into the cake).
